From trekking and hiking to camping and mountain climbing, there are a variety of activities you can get involved in to explore the wonders of mountains.

Lion Mountain Lion Mountain is located in the South East of Mauritius in the region of Grand Port. It offers different viewpoints and stunning 360 views. It can be a little challenging for those not used to hiking despite it's not physically a challenging hike. Starting Point: Vieux Grand Port Police Station Elevation: 490 M Duration: 3 Hours Level: Moderate

Corp De Garde Located on the western side of Mauritius near the town of Rose Hill and Quatre Bornes, Corp De Garde is the 5th highest mountain in Mauritius. The trail offers panoramic views from the summit and a south viewpoint. It is physically challenging, especially on a hot sunny day. Starting point: Near Camp-Levieux Community Center Elevation: 720 M Duration: 3 Hours Level: Moderate

Le Pouce Le Pouce forms part of the Moka mountain range. It is the third highest mountain in Mauritius and offers some very good views over the northwest of the island towards the capital of Port Louis. Two trails lead to the summit, one from Petit Verger at Saint Pierre which is the most popular, and the other at Tranquebar Port Louis. If you were to hike your first mountain in Mauritius this is where you should get started. It is an easy hike perfect for beginners. Starting Point: Petit Verger Elevation: 811 M Duration: 1 Hour Level: Easy

Tourelle Du Tamarin Tourelle Du Tamarin is located in Tamarin and offers one of the best views of the entire western area of Mauritius. The trail passes through private property and is quite challenging. Starting point: Black Rock Reservoir Elevation: 548 M Duration: 2 Hours Level: Moderate


Le Morne Brabant Situated in the southwestern of Mauritius Le Morne Brabant is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most popular hikes in Mauritius for its amazing 360 view and the history it serves. The trail is well-worn and easy to follow. Elevation: 556 M Duration: 3 Hours Level: Moderate

Piton De La Petite Riviere Noire It's the highest mountain in Mauritius, two trails lead to the summit, Black River Gorges or Chamarel. It's not challenging, but It's not recommended to go on a rainy day or if it's been raining the previous days as the trail gets way too muddy. Elevation: 828 M Duration: 3-4 Hours Level: Moderate

Piton Du Canot Piton Du Canot is situated in the west of Chamarel and is probably the easiest hike on the island. The trail is well-worn and offers stunning views of Ilot Benitier, Le Morne Brabant, and Tourelle Du Tamarin. It's perfect for a short hike with family and kids. Elevation: 540 M Duration: 1 Hour or less Level: Easy
